In the past couple of weeks middle school football has been at an all time high.  Long and Renaissance played probably the best game ever played in APS history.  Eddie White continued their dominance with a big win over a competitive Kendrick team.  Bethune had a very impressive showing against one of the best teams in the state by beating Tucker.  With that win Bethune and Long earned a spot into the B2C Championship Series.  Bethune might be playing the best football in the southeast right now.  Ricky Lee from Long has a chance to become a Turman Award nominee for the best player in middle school football.  The biggest game in the state this weekend is between Brookwood and Mill Creek.  These two teams are polar opposites of each other.  Brookwood relies on physicality and defense that goes into the game wanting to lay the wood.  Mill Creek is a team that is all about execution and rhythm.  If Mill Creek can get in a rhythm and get up early they have a chance to win the game.  If the game turns into a dog fight then Brookwood will not only win the GFL but earn their right to have a bid to the B2C State Championship.  North Cobb and Mceachern play in the GMSAA Championship.  The QB from North Cobb, Malachi Singleton will be looked at once again to put on a show.  Fresh off his offer from Albany State the 6”0, 201lb QB is special.  If they beat Mceachern and earn their right for a birth into the B2C State Championship they will have one of the biggest stages in middle school football and all eyes will be on him and his teammates.

This past weekend the champions in various leagues all across the state were decided and some games were classics and as in other games the top teams made sure to take care of business.  In the previous weekend Mill Creek, Atlanta Panthers and Atlanta Bulldogs all won their championship in convincing fashion.  This past weekend Riverdale and Douglasville all had close ones.  GA Gators defense played lights out as they get the victory over East Metro Steelers.  Dalton beats Trion and concludes a perfect season.  In a cross over game the Atlanta Bulldogs vs GA Gators would look to serve as an early Frank Ski Youth Bowl eliminator as ABA would win a hard fought game 12-0.  

Frank Ski Youth Bowl will be played December 9th.  Participating teams will be announced on V103 on Tuesday at 7:30AM.  Good luck to all the teams

Mill Creek comes in at #1, the defending state champs led by Coach Mullins will look to make history by becoming the first ever back to back B2C State Champions.  Buford might be the most talented team in the state.  Led by. KJ Bolden the DB/WR is one of the best in the country.  Cedar Grove has a chance to put together a special year.  With all the changes in Dekalb Co, this is they year they should run away with county title and possibly a birth into the B2C.  Crawford long won the APS last year, this year it looks to be more of the same.  Every year Cartersville has been on the brink of making it into the B2C, this could finally be there year.  So far this season they are averaging 45 points a game.  They have an undefeated Red Bud this week. Rex Mill looks like the team to beat in Clayton Co. although Kendrick already has a quality win against Eddie White.  Dutchtown, Rising Starr and Fort could all crash the party at B2C. All three teams have a great chance at winning their league and making a push for the state title when it is all said and. done.  Champion, Calhoun, and Parkview all are very talented sleeper teams that could end up winning their league championship.

The GA Gators (formerly GA Seminoles) are the defending champs for this group.  They are loaded up front on the line.  If they can develop a decent passing game they have a chance to have a historical year.  Rarebreeds are talented beyond belief, last year they didn’t obtain their goal of winning. B2C but this year they have added arguably they best player in the state with Elliott Colson, the QB can do it all.  Grayson is HUGE on the line, they are very similar to the Gators.  They have been the kings in the GFL for a while now.  It will be interesting to see if they get the bid to the Frank Ski Youth Bowl this. year.  North Atlanta has a chance, they last time Coach Jacobs had a good QB his team was very competitive.  This year they have Jaiden Jenkins is a pass/throw threat.  Don’t be shocked if the North Atlanta Giants are in the conversation at the end of the year for the Youth Bowl.  DYJ has always been talented but they lost two dynamic players that had a huge impact on the offense and defense. If Coach Lowery can make a run this year then he deserves to be in the running for B2C Coach of the Year.  West Georgia (NWGYFL) and Downtown Falcons (NEGYFC) both have a great chance to win their league. MLC Hurricanes (SPYFL) have an outside chance to make the Youth Bowl.  They have been smart enough to schedule games outside their league as they have their eyes on preparing themselves for the postseason.  Frank Callen and Peachtree Ridge are both very solid teams that do have talent.  When the opportunity comes to win the big game, can they do it?

Welcome All has won the B2C since they were 6U.  Two more and they tie the record set by the Atlanta Ducks.  They are one of the most talented teams in B2C History.  They have a total of 3 former B2C Players of the Year award winners including the most recent one with Julian Lewis.  They also have one of the best players in the country in AJ McNeil. He impacts both sides of the ball. North Henry has picked up a load of talent this year.  In the past they were great against the run but with the addition of AJ Cromartie at DB they should also be great against the pass.  Smyrna Seahawks has one of the best coaches in the age group.  He consistently puts his team in position to win games.  Depending how healthy they are going into B2C they might have a chance to make it to the championship game.  Milford Warriors have the X factor on their team JJ Campbell.  The big RB not only is productive in the running game but he can line up out wide and catch the ball. GA Rattlers might have the most dominant backfield with their new addition.  Sincere Stevens is a monster, the best Linebacker in the state.  Duluth has a chance to be special with Atkinson at LB and Geralds one of the best defensive lineman in the country.  Both players impact the game at a high level.  Parkview will again rely on B2C Offensive Player of the Year Bryce Green.  Green along with Cortez Smith on the offense line can put up points on anybody.  Sprayberry is led by Jrue Keeling, their offense fits him perfectly as he is a Dual-Threat.  Camo is the dark hoarse, if they can put it together they will be dangerous come December.  With the rise in age there become less teams in the B2C with only 10 teams making tournament.

With the playoffs a couple of weeks away a few things look like a pretty rock solid lock.  GA Gators and Rarebreed have a great chance at winning their league championship. North Atlanta Giants are becoming scary good as they continue to develop and get better.  They might mess around and win their league which will change everything.  Although MLC have a tough loss against Rarebreeds if you look at the film they had some things that worked in their favor. Like get the ball to Montrez Redding, he has the ability to be a playmaker.  North Oconee and Bartow Co are playing at a high level in their leagues.  Grayson might have their hands full, if Collins Hill continues to win big games. A championship between those two teams could determine who goes to the Youth Bowl.
